February 2018 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

I’m here today to talk about the four books on my February to be read list. I apologize that I haven’t gotten my wrap up for January up yet, but I haven’t been feeling well and haven’t gotten the chance to sit down and type it up. I hope to have it out for you all tomorrow!

February TBR

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black – I didn’t manage to make it to this one in January, but still really, really want to read it! This is the first book in a new, young adult fantasy fae series that I have heard incredible things about! I believe it’s about a girl who has grown up in the high court of the fae. I really don’t know much more about it, but I kind of want to keep it that way!

Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes – This is the third book in the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. And although I wasn’t in love with the last book, I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I’m excited to see where the plot is going and what is going to happen with the characters.

Run Away With Me by Mila Gray – I read the second book in this series in January and would love to continue on. I’ve loved both of the books in this series so far, and cannot wait to read more. This is a series of companion novels, and I really don’t know much about this last book. The last two have centered around military and loss and it’s so good. I can’t wait!

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness – I was supposed to read this book last year. I read about 100 pages of it for a buddy read with my friend Heidi, but for some reason never finished it. The Rest of Us Just Live Here is a young adult fantasy book that follows the “other” characters. Not the chosen ones, but the like little side characters.

July 2017 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

I know you’ve probably heard this numerous times already, but I cannot believe that 2017 is already half over! This has been a crazy year for me so far. I’ve switched jobs and am working more hours. Along with dealing with a handful of health issues (though that’s not all that new). I haven’t done as much reading this year as I had originally planned, but I’m still hoping that it will pick up.

I thought I would drop in and talk about some of the books that I’m hoping to get to this month. I have been wanting to participate in a readathon in the near future. It’s been quite awhile since I joined in on a readathon, however I don’t really know of many coming up soon. There is one that I am kind of interested in, a classics and science fiction readathon taking place from July 2nd to July 8th. If you know of any others, please let me know in the comments!

  1. Saga Volumes Four through Seven by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples – I finally got my hands on copies of the sixth and seventh volume and have been rereading the past volumes the last couple of days. I’m excited to get caught up on the series!
  2. If There’s No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout – This book sounds really interesting. I won a giveaway on Goodreads for an ARC of this and would love to read it and review it before it’s release in September!
  3. Into the Water by Paula Hawkins – I have read a few pages of this and am really interested in continuing it. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a good mystery/thriller and I’m hoping this one will satisfy that itch. I like what I have read so far, so I’m hoping I will enjoy the rest.

And that’s it for me. I don’t want to overwhelm myself by putting a ton of books on my TBR. On top of that, only have a few leaves things more open to choose other things if I wish. I don’t end up feeling like I’m avoiding the books on my TBR if I read other things instead!

December 2016 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

It’s extremely hard to believe that 2016 is almost over. It feels like January wasn’t that long ago, but here we are. I’ve been taking a look at my unfinished series and decided I wanted to read some of the one’s that I have only one or two books left before I’m finished or caught up with the series.

So, that is what this TBR will be mostly made up of. There are a couple of other things that don’t fit into that category. We’ll see how many of these I’m actually able to read this month.

  • A Mother’s Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold
  • World After by Susan Ee

  • End of Days by Susan Ee
  • The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
  • Catalyst by Lydia Kang
  • After You by Jojo Moyes
  • Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

July 2016 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

It is officially almost my birthday month. I turn 23 on the 13th of July. I do have to work on my birthday for a couple of hours, but other than that, I’m not sure if we will do much. My husband and I have a certain restaurant that we go to for birthdays, but I don’t know if we will go on my birthday or another day before or after it. If I’m being honest, I can’t remember if he works.

I’m still having some issues deciding what to read, so this to be read could change completely. In fact, you could probably put money on it. But don’t do that, gambling is a terrible habit.

I’m posting this a couple days before July actually starts because that’s just how the post schedule I’m making worked out the best. So, if you see some of this on my wrap up for June in a couple of days, then I apologize!

  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

  • Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
  • Specials by Scott Westerfeld
  • All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

April 2016 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

I hope you are all having a fantastic last day of March. I apologize for being missing for the past couple of months. Again, I’ve been dealing with personal issues and a lack of reading in my life. I want to try to get back into the swing of things, so I figured a TBR is a good place to start. I do hopefully plan on participating in #TBRTakedown 3.5 this month. That starts on the 8th of April, and goes until the tenth; but I will probably post a separate TBR for that.

  • Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
  • Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

  • Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • Come Back to Me by Mila Gray
  • Wild Swans by Jessica Spotswood

February 2016 TBR

Hello, lovely readers!

I hope you are all having a fantastic first day of February. This year is a leap year, meaning we have an extra day of February! And you know, an extra day of reading. For my monthly TBRs, I’ve decided I’m going to list the books that I am currently reading, along with three to five books that I would like to read throughout the month. Keep in mind that this could change at any point, and it probably won’t include the books I plan to read for any readathons that I participate in this month. I will have separate TBRs for readathons.

  • The Marvels by Brian Selznick
  • Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

  • The 5th Wave by Rick Yansey
  • Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
  • Cinder by Marissa Meyer
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

2016 Goals and Challenges

Hello, lovely readers! I hope you’re all having a fantastic New Year’s Eve – remember to be safe and have fun while you celebrate the end of the year; and the beginning of a new year.

Today I want to talk about my goals and challenges for the year of 2016. I want to be a little easier on myself this year; I think I set a few too many goals last year. Part of me wonders if the pressure to complete those goals are part of the reason I struggled with reading this year. Let’s get started!

The first challenge I want to talk about is the Goodreads reading challenge. In 2014, I set my goal to 60 books and I read exactly 60 books. In 2015, I set my goal to 65 books and ended up reading only 56 of those 65 books. I’ve decide that this year I want to focus more on enjoying what I read rather than how much I’m reading. That being said, I’m going to set my Goodreads goal for this year at 20 books. I have no doubt in my mind that this is a reachable number for me, and that I will probably reach it early on in 2016; but I don’t want this year to be about reading a certain number of books and more about just having fun reading again.

I’m going to take another stab at completing three series this year. I was able to start and finish two series in the year of 2015, so I think simply finishing three shouldn’t be that difficult. I have a few series that I’ve started but have yet to finish, that would be excellent for this challenge. Such as the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi, or the Penryn and the End of Days Trilogy by Susan Ee; along with many more.

My final goal for the year of 2016 is to take part in a readathon at least once a month. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this, but I usually do a fairly good job at readathons and I’m hoping that will continue into the year 2016. The last thing I want to mention in this post is the Popsugar Challenge that I started last year. I really wanted to finish it in the year of 2015, but was not able to do so. I am going to make a separate page for this under my Reading Challenges tabs, and continue this on until I finish it. Whether that be this year, or next year, or five years down the line.

If you would like to follow my progress with these challenges throughout the year of 2016 you can do so here. You can also find my new page for the Popsugar Challenge here.

What are your goals for the upcoming year? Are you taking part in any challenges, and if so which ones?
