Emily and her brother Navin head for Kanalis, a beautiful and mysterious city of waterfalls, where they hope to find the antidote for the poison that felled their mother. That cure lies in the eggs of a giant serpent atop Demon’s Head Mountain, but the kids’ archenemy, Trellis, is headed for the peak, too. A battle that will engulf all of Kanalis is looming. It’s up to Em to triumph over evil while controlling the amulet’s power . . . without losing herself!

This was a great installment in the series and I enjoyed it even more than the first! This picks up right after the end of the first volume and is packed full of fun, adventure, and conflict. I flew right through it. I still think the artwork in this graphic novel series is beautiful. I really wish I could take some of the full page graphics as prints and hang them on my walls because they’re so beautiful. I love the introduction of Leon, he seems like a very badass character (though I love foxes, so I may be slightly biased). I really feel like the Amulet series is something that would appeal to a lot of people, no matter their age.
